Commonly forming ‘squalls’ lead by a matriarch, they patrol large territories and communicate with a wide vocal range of croaks and chirrups. Intelligent, hardy and trainable, they’re popularly kept as solitary domestic pets to guard property, with an omnivore diet useful for keeping garden pests in check. <br>September 2006. This female displays a very attractive blush, as seen by the patterning on her head crest caused by flushing blood through vessels close to the skin's surface.
